School Description
Nagle College is a Catholic co-eduational school with an enrolment of approximately 880 students. Nagle College was founded by the Presentation Sisters in 1958 and is now under the guidance of the Salesians of Don Bosco.
The College is pleasantly situated on 40 hectares on the outskirts of Bairnsdale, adjacent to the Mitchell River. The College has many educational facilities, which include classrooms, Library, Information Technology laboratories, Technology workshops, Science laboratories, Art facilities, Drama and Music suites, Physical Education facilities and a Primary Industries Skills Centre. The rural location of the College, combined with the quietness of carpeting, provides an ideal environment for learning. Extensive indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, including Presentation Hall, enable students to participate in a wide range of sporting activities, whilst landscaping and beautiful gardens provide students with restive rural surrounds.
The ethos of Nagle College is based on Christian gospel values. It is firmly intended that these values will operate in the school, not just at a ritual level, but throughout the whole organisation and day-to-day running of the school. It is felt that today, more than ever, young people need to know the values of a mature Christian. Our purpose is to enunciate these values clearly and intelligently and give our children an aim. "Grace builds on nature" and the organisation and curriculum of Nagle College ensures that its pupils leave its doors fully equipped to face the challenges of life, and so enable them to participate in contemporary Australian society.
Special School Features
A community of learning cannot be established without discipline and hard work. Children need a secure and caring atmosphere in order to progress. This secure atmosphere can only be established when basic standards of hard work, respect for teachers, respect for one another, and good manners are insisted upon. Nagle College aims to stimulate intellectual development by setting high, but realistic expectations for its students in an environment which fosters a sense of personal value and confidence. Nagle College is widely recognised as an excellent school. It is a school which makes strong demands of its students and has high standards with regard to attitudes, discipline and work ethos. The College administration believes in this regard it is fulfilling the expectations of the vast majority of parents and students. In order to maintain these high standards, it is vital that we have the full support of all parents.
