2015 VCE Results
Nagle College are pleased to commend our 2015 Year 12 students on their achievements and successful completion of their secondary education. The outcomes for students were solid for both the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) with students successfully completing these certificates and gaining recognition for their work and effort. The 2015 Year 12 students are now well placed to commence their life “after Nagle”.
The principal of Nagle College, Mr Neville Powles said that it was particularly pleasing that nearly half the students achieved an ATAR score above 60 this year and this was an increase on last year. We are always looking to improve student performances and give them every opportunity to achieve as well as they possibly can. Three students achieved an ATAR over 90 and this is a commendable performance.
Ben Howden was congratulated on being the dux of Nagle College for 2015. He achieved an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 98.50. Ben achieved a perfect study score of 50 for Physics. These results will enable Ben to gain entry into his first preference at the University of Melbourne. He aims to pursue a career in mathematics or science.
Other students to score over 90 were Ben Biggs (95.05) and Claire Hammond (94.25). Ben is looking forward to commencing Aerospace Engineering at Monash University and Claire is considering courses in biomedicine and science.
All these students have been contacted by the universities and have been offered scholarships – this should help the transition to university study in Melbourne. They have been good examples to other students in effectively combining various study, sporting, and community commitments during the year.
Mr Powles also commented on the effectiveness of the acceleration program at Nagle College. Ben Howden, Ben Biggs and Claire Hammond all studied a Year 12 subject whilst in Year 11 in 2014. They all scored over 40 in these accelerated subjects. These great achievements set up the foundation to perform really well in Year 12 this year.
Other students to be commended are Quilan Goff and Sabrina Kool who were awarded a VCE Baccalaureate for successfully combining a study of a language and a high level mathematics as part of their VCE.
The College also congratulates students who achieved high Study Scores in VCE Subjects for 2015. All students who achieve a study score of 40 or above receive special commendation. The complete list of Nagle College students getting study scores of 40 or more is:

Whilst the current focus has been on the students who completed their Year 12 studies with VCE, there is a significant group of students who completed their Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) certificates this year. Although it is still early times, students who have been undertaking applied learning programs through VCAL have achieved outstanding outcomes. Students are gaining full time employment, apprenticeships or traineeships. In a competitive marketplace students are picking up apprenticeships and local employers are pleased to sign up Nagle College students. The students are reaping the benefits of an engaging and challenging applied learning program that prepares them with the skills to make an effective transition to the workplace.
Nagle College students receive a standard of education and opportunities that enable them to pursue their pathways into further study, training or employment. The education that students receive at Nagle College provides a solid base in preparation for life after school.
