300th Anniversary of Nano Nagle

2018 marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of Nano Nagle, the patron of our College. This is a significant anniversary and many Presentation schools around the world are marking the occasion with various celebrations, in particular schools in Ireland.

As we mark our 60th anniversary this year, it is a fitting and appropriate time to reflect on the life of Nano Nagle, a woman who has left an indelible legacy. Nano became known as the 'lady of the lantern' and her work with education and caring for the poor, homeless and destitute were often referred to as her 'lantern works'. The Nagle College motto - Let Your Light Shine - is a direct reference to Nano's 'lantern work' and the lantern is an iconic symbol which we use at all our masses.
