Kelsey Cuttriss (2018 Finalist ‘Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize’ & Recipient Arthur Grassby Kokoda Scholarship 2018) was our MC, with an additional 60+ students contributing to the morning’s ceremony through readings and music.

Our Guest Speaker, Mr Greg Carter, entered National Service in 1969; he initially went to Puckapunyal for basic training before being stationed at Townsville with the 6th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment prior to his deployment in Vietnam as a mortar man. Greg spent 12 months in Vietnam on numerous operations with the ANZAC Battalion working with American and New Zealand Forces. Greg and his wife Ann now operate Cockatoo Rise which is a retreat for war veterans and their partners to enjoy a safe, secure and peaceful environment.

The ceremony was enhanced by a number of musical performances. Our Liturgical Singers performed “The ANZAC”, Samantha Graham composed an original song entitled ‘Never in the War’ which she performed during our wreath laying ceremony, and Roni and Cate Corby performed their original song “Kokoda” as flowers were laid.

Following the ANZAC Service, students, staff and special guests made their way to the Oval for ANZAC Gift. This Inter-House race, which focuses on teamship and teamwork, helps remind us of "ANZAC Spirit". Congratulation to Newman Girls and Avila Boys on the win, and special thank you to Mr David Lewien and the RSL for presenting the shield.
