Founders’ Day Celebrations

Nagle College celebrated Founders' Day on Wednesday 19 August. This special day on the College calendar provides a focus for remembering and celebrating the legacy of the College Founders - Nano Nagle and St John Bosco - and the House Patrons - St Teresa of Avila, St John Bosco (Don Bosco), Caroline Chisholm, St Mary MacKillop, Blessed John Newman, Bishop John Bede Polding, and St Francis Xavier.

This year the celebrations were focussed around the bicentenary of the birth of St John Bosco. To mark this occasion, a commissioned statue of St John Bosco was unveiled and blessed by Fr Greg Chambers SDB, the Salesian Provincial. This statue stands in a circular prayer garden which is being established adjacent to the St John Bosco Chapel.

House activities during the day included assemblies, when all students were given a St John Bosco badge, a shared bbq lunch and celebratory cake, tree planting in the Nagle Rainforest and an afternoon of House Extravaganzas in preparation for Talent Night.

The day was a wonderful celebration and a time to reflect on the legacy of our founders and patrons.
