Three Rising Stars

Congratulations to Aislin Jones (Year 11 Bosco) and Ben Burchall (Year 10 Bosco) who have been named Open Gippstar (Aislin) and Junior Gippstar (Ben) Champions for 2016/2017. Both received strong votes during the 12 month period from July 2016 to June 2017 and were presented with their awards at the Annual Awards Dinner held in Morwell in early August.

Aislin claimed gold medals at the Australian ISSF National Championships, Commonwealth Championships, Sydney Cup and claimed 10 gold medals at the Victorian State Championships. Aislin also took silver at the National Championship and Victorian Handicap Championship. This was following her success in representing Australia at the 2016 Rio Olympics where she finished 17th, being the youngest ever Australian shooter to compete at an Olympics.

Ben has had an equally busy year and was invited to attend the 2017 International Junior Shotgun Grand Prix held in Suhl, Germany. Ben won gold medals in the Victorian ISSF Championship "B" grade, ACTA ISSF Junior Nationals, Junior Commonwealth ISSF Skeet Championship, Junior National ISSF Skeet Championship, Junior National ISSF Skeet High Gun, the Luigi Franci Perpetual Trophy and "C" Grade Commonwealth ISSF Skeet Championship. Ben was also a member of the Victorian Junior and Open ISSF Postal Teams.

Another Nagle student, Tom Fisher (Year 11 Bosco) was presented with his award as the November Junior winner for his success in Triathlons.

Aislin and Ben join a growing list of Nagle College students who have won the Junior Gippstar Awards, which include Cameron White (Class of 1994 Chisholm) and Hamish Nelson (Class of 2006 Newman).

Congratulations to Aislin, Ben, Tom and all our students who continue to perform and succeed at their chosen sports.
