Sally Guthrie

Where are they now?

Name at Nagle: Sally Guthrie // Name now: // Graduating Year: 2007 // Nagle House: MacKillop

31/3/2020: The Bairnsdale RSL held a wreath laying service at Beaufort Memorial Gardens on Tuesday 24 March to recognise women's service. Sally, a contemporary Royal Australian Navy veteran, was invited to give the main address at this service. Sally's address was hearfelt and the last paragraph (provided here) most especially poignant: "So, remember not just the young women of the ADF, but those in the emergency services and in our hospitals, who dedicate their time, talents and yes, their very lives to protecting our Australia. Lest we forget."

13/9/2019: Sally was recently recognised for her years of service in the Australia Navy at a ceremony conducted by the RSL in Bairnsdale. Sally served for seven years in the Australian Navy as a boatswain's mate. After completing her training in 2008 Sally was posted to HMAS Success and spent three years patrolling South East Asia. In 2011 Sally was posted to the Survival at Sea Section as HMAS Cerberus as an instructor. She was awarded the HMAS Cerberus Instructor of the Year in 2012.

We congratulate Sally on her achievements in the Armed Forces and wish her well for her future.
