Programs: Outdoor Education

Outdoor Education at Nagle College begins at Year 7 with the students taking part in their Orientation Camp at Lake Tyers Beach.

In Year 8 they complete an overnight camp at Banksia Peninsula, adding to the skills they had learnt in Year 7.

In Year 9 the students can take up the option of undertaking the Bronze Level of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.

In the senior school (Year 10, 11 and 12) students are offered a range of options for further developing and honing their skills in outdoor pursuits. These include:

  • Year 10 Outdoor Education
  • VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies
  • VET Certificate 2 Outdoor Recreation
  • VET Certificate 3 in Sport and Recreation

Expeditions are undertaken to Nowa Nowa, Rotomah Island, Snowy River National Park, Mt Feathertop, Mt Hotham and Omeo. Activities include Cross Country Skiing, Snowboarding and Skiing, White Water Rafting, bike riding, canoeing and hiking. Students cover a range of environmental issues during their studies.
