Pastoral Care: Overview

Mrs Sharon Buurman, Deputy Principal Pastoral

Nagle College’s motto ‘Let Your Light Shine’ seeks to promote a respectful, secure, safe and healthy environment in which students are encouraged to be their best.  We are committed to the protection of children from all forms of child abuse and have implemented a comprehensive child protection program designed to keep children safe.

Effective Pastoral Care means guiding students by providing genuine opportunities for them to learn and grow. They come to school to work and their work is learning.

As a Catholic school in the Salesian Tradition our pastoral care is underpinned by the Preventive System of Don Bosco.   This system is based on reason, religion and loving kindness.  It aims to assist each individual achieve their potential and involves counseling the student, correcting the student and implementing appropriate consequences.

We aim to create an environment which is supportive of individuals and group; is conducive to worthwhile learning; enhances a sense of belonging and demonstrates a caring concern for the well-being of all students and staff.  This involves students understanding, respecting and upholding the rights of each member of the College community. Every member of the College community has a right to be treated with dignity and respect.
